Welcome

to this online playbill of a webpage for our space rock opera, 6102 ("Sixty-One Aught Two").

Nov. 9, 2016 was so different a day than Nov. 8, 2016. The world got jilted because of some cosmic kerfuffle and now everything seemed askew. Ah, the then naive and now sad hilarity that consumes the insides when recalling a stroll up the sidewalk of the local polling place en route to making some presidential election history - again!, this time in voting for and electing a woman as President of our United States.

Of course, it's been a different journey since ... with our society a bit turned on its head maybe you'll find these past several years sound somewhat like this prog rock-inspired album of ours that has taken us as long to complete as the tenure of our Country's current administration; time to move things forward - always constructively and, within that, however so. Here's 37 minutes of music to the cause of keeping on.

6102 Prologue
("Sixty-One Aught Two")

The erosion of trust is at its most insidious when doubt, cast in slow trickles and over time, weakens the emotional bedrock of an abraded soul that is further distressed by dense, indivisible façades elevated through hidden fears revealed from within a reflection of the self.

Actualizing that any and all things evolving for the better may no longer be enough to redeem The Living, an audible cathartic spill spewed forth in some ironically aberrant attempt to reconcile the thousands of lies, blatant cheating, and relentless disregard for the welfare of others that epitomize these times in Our Commonality, where polarization shines as The New Life Authority of every being.

And so we toast! In reminisce of moments no more, to those once spent in solitude, secluded and drunk on a hoppy little ditty suited perfectly for a listen or two while conceding inside one's self-confessional:

Message falls on deaf ears, happily
as the sound of voice sustains
while their leaders fall from grace
in apathy
and to you hath be the blame
for our shame.

Lyrics / Arc

dusted hues
rising moonshine beams anew
i've read the clues
i've caught the cues between me and you

come my way, come my way, come my way
come my way, come my way
won't you come my way

strangers left of right
seeing past each other without sight
travel through unspoken fight
in black and white
floating highs
we missed the hole up in our skies
our sacred ties demoralize twelve butterflies

come my way, come my way, come my way
and yet you choose to stay
won't you come my way

you hate the news
all of our distant dreams have come undone
you play dark blues
whilst singing pleasant praise of a distant sun
you pay the dues
dirty damage done
you're race is run

pushing me down
up underground
kicking me around
paint me as a clown
hang me upside down
sell me by the pound

won't you come my way
i used to be so passionate
the whole world made me so upset
shouting down injustices
hell … what "in god we trust" is?

no logic in what they've said
try to keep down what i'm fed
losing hope for righteousness
looking forward to nothingness

complacent at the door
don't know if i can stomach
finger pointing for
crooked frame

staring hard at rusting walls
new normal reflects appalls
think i'm getting used to it

complacent to the core
know i can't no
can't i know what's at the door
all the same

think i'm getting used to it

now i preach the lore
one of many silent
souls led through the floor
no i can't know can't i?
no one's at the door
crooked frame
gather to me friend and enemy
offer a new way for you to see
i am the one that you got to choose
what in the hell do you have to lose? (freedom)

follow me down this troubled path
tidings of joy in the aftermath
follow me now and you won't regret
the life you led 'fore we ever met

i alone - have all the answers
i alone - to every question
i alone - i feel your pain
i know your wounds
one and the same

i alone - to the endless questions
i alone - have every answer
i alone - can solve this sadness
i am the one to rid your madness

i alone - have your solution
i alone - need your attention
i alone - keep your eye on the prize
explode the truth
ignore my lies

i alone - to all the children
i alone - i am your answer
i alone can fix this
(instrumental)
ignorance coincidence of shades
grifting with the money he has made
bleed the itch and blow up all the fame
time to play the way he plays the game

brain the swamp and grow up all the shame
time to lay the way we lays the blame
ignorance is innocence in spades
look at all the difference he has made

coi coi coi coi coi coi

we think we feel we know what's real
we love the one the eye the sun
we sting we shout we have no doubt
we one we loud hive head hovers in cloud

ignorance is (the) incidence of maids
hooking all the honey she has laid
scratch that bitch and flow it out her shame
time to come let's grab the holy flame

coi coi coi coi coi coi

we think we feel we know what's real
we love the won the i the son
we shine we shout there is no doubt
we won we proud hive head in cloud

we feel we think what's real don't blink
the one we love the son above
we shout we sing no doubt take wing
we won we proud hive head hovering loud
(instrumental)
dogs that go astray
upon fading sunshine
await the moon to bay
levitation moonshine

lovers come and liars grow
out of lingering crack bliss
they can't know what we all know
muddled truth from black kiss

friends abstain and others feign
a little that for your this
too much for you to remain
upon the boat you can't miss

unbelievers step in line
don't lose the well for your wish
levitation full moonshine
we sold the pot for your piss

cats go out to play
fast approaching life nine
await the moon to prey
levitation moonshine

dogs that go astray
upon fading sunshine
striking out the grey
levitation moonshine
59 times yesterday
gives me pause to think this play's a fake
dealing low and playing high
you miss the sky and wonder why today

shown within your eyes
there's no more surprise
this hand can't buy your way
get out while you're still wise
fold and pay

understanding harmony
lends the way to help you see today
crossing eyes trivialize
the path of lies in seeking your own way

you show it in your eyes
there's no more surprise
this hand can't buy your way
harmony gone astray
shown within your eyes
there's one more surprise
my hand led you astray
harmony can't help you

show it in your eyes
leaving little surprise
this hand can't buy your way
harmony can't help you
fold and pay
ring true bell is tolling bright
sing blue black is bruising white
meltdown no relief in sight

don't take it so hard
don't make it so hard
don't fake it so hard
don't shake it so hard
shake it til you break it so hard

truth told round and round we go
break mold circus to and fro
hit hard brace the status quo

don't take it so hard
don't make it so hard
don't fake it so hard
don't shake it so hard
shake me til you break me
shake me til you break it so hard
cry from the brave
the seeker finds the foreign haze
forgotten o'er the sun
forgiven like no one

creatures of the sea
ever floating after me
cannot look away
my future is today

you're done

peaceful scenery
entraps every me
pleasure is the way
your future is today

cannot look away
our future is today
applause and fables
the search for me aside
you turn thy tables
a search for me abide
it don't mean nothin'
the muckers rolling snort
applause and fables
the search for me abort

the crux of fables
it leaves me wanting more
sing song disables
the lessons neither nor
swinesong is toxic
disperse and no decay
on rouser rables
tomorrow's jester jay

applause and fables
hindsights growing dim
the turn of tables
prospects looking grim
out on our last limb
future's up to him

Cult of ignorance in the United States:
Anti-intellectualism and the dumbing down of America

Anti-intellectual elitism … the dismissal of science, the arts, and humanities and their replacement by entertainment, self-righteousness, ignorance, and deliberate gullibility

  • There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.
  • The rise of idiot America today represents - for profit mainly, but also and more cynically, for political advantage in the pursuit of power - the breakdown of a consensus that the pursuit of knowledge is a good. It also represents the ascendancy of the notion that the people whom we should trust the least are the people who best know what they are talking about. In the new media age, everybody is an expert.
  • We're creating a world of dummies. Angry dummies who feel they have the right, the authority and the need not only to comment on everything, but to make sure their voice is heard above the rest, and to drag down any opposing views through personal attacks, loud repetition and confrontation.
  • … the anti-intellectual elitism is not an elitism of wisdom, education, experience or knowledge. The new elite are the angry social media posters, those who can shout loudest and more often, a clique of bullies and malcontents baying together like dogs cornering a fox. Too often it's a combined elite of the anti-intellectuals and the conspiracy followers - not those who can voice the most cogent, most coherent response. Together they foment a rabid culture of anti-rationalism where every fact is suspect; every shadow holds a secret conspiracy. Rational thought is the enemy. Critical thinking is the devil's tool.
  • Fashion, entertainment, spectacle, voyeurism - we're directed towards trivia, towards the inconsequential, towards unquestioning and blatant consumerism. This results in intellectual complacency. People accept without questioning, believe without weighing the choices, join the pack because in a culture where convenience rules, real individualism is too hard work. Thinking takes too much time.

Cockatoo Fan

Thanks be to all things good for the gift of living creatures ... This feathered dude has a boatload of cockatude and a natural feel for the tunes; we at SA are overjoyed that a Cockatoo seems to like our stuff.

A HUGE shout out to the bird's mom for gracing us with this visual gift - keep it rockin', Cowboy. <3

  2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love.
  3. Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions).

Please

When your sound engineer and his wife celebrate the birth of their first child during what has been a surreal social scene at minimum, then it's only necessary and good to share here our heartfelt congrats to them!

Wishing John, Natalie and Lucy much health and peace as they now venture this world together in trio fashion. <3

Helpful Humor

(it's late October 2016; we're at SA, taking a break from recording and chatting about the viability of the Trump campaign)
G: There's no fucking way that asshole wins the presidency.
J: I think it's possible.
G: No way, Jay; if Trump wins, then I'll sit my bare ass on those freezing train tracks.

(approx. one week later)
J: So you really think Trump has no chance?
G: Without a doubt.
J: Alright ... if he wins, then I'll join you on the tracks – not saying he won't win.

Friendship.
